The Noirans black hen has inherited feathery legs and improved genes that give a generous production of highly colored eggs.
The Noirans has the same characteristics as its ancestor the Marans hen. It is the result of crossbreeding between a local hen and older breeds from which it has inherited its robustness and plumage colors.
Bred for robustness and high numbers of real quality dark brown eggs (rich dark chocolate colored brown eggs), the Noirans layers have a good appetite and an amenable temperament.
These highly favorable genetic characteristics can only be fully realized when the bird is provided with proper management, which includes, but is not limited to good quality feed, good housing and proper management practice.
